Ampney Crucis has four village defibrillators accessible to members of the public 24 hours each day, 365 days per year.
They are located in weatherproof cabinets on the external walls of the Village Hall (GL7 5RY) and Ampney Crucis Primary School (GL7 5SD), at Hilcot End and opposite Dudley Farm.
Users do not need to have been trained in their use – the machines are simple to use and give clear verbal instructions as to what to do and when. The ambulance service will also provide support over the telephone until a paramedic arrives. Nevertheless, the advice we have been given is to always dial 999 first and act on the advice of the ambulance service.
Working with the ambulance service, the Parish Council also arranges at least one training session each year, providing basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills and demonstrating use of the defibrillator. Villagers or visitors to the area are welcome to attend and there is no charge for admission or participation. If you are interested in attending a session, look out for announcements in The Ampney Times or under Latest News on this website. Alternatively, you may register your interest in attending by emailing our Parish Clerk at clerk@ampneycrucis.org.uk.
