ROBINS William, Private 14582, 2nd Grenadier Guards killed in action 20th September 1914 aged 22. Son of James and Martha of Barnsley Village Gloucestershire Native of Dry Lees, Cirencester, Gloucestershire and is buried at Guards Grave, Villers Cotterets Forest, France.
SOUL Ernest, Driver 48956, A Battery, 16th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery killed in action 25th March 1918 aged 28. Son of Edwin and Mary Jane nee Frayling of Knowl Farm Cottage, Ampney Crucis Native of Winstone and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. The memorial has his unit as the Royal Horse Artillery.

DORAN John, Sergeant PY/13550, 2nd Royal Marine Light Infantry, Royal Navy Division. Born 9th September 1887 at Whitehaven, Cumberland enlisted 10th October 1905 and died 21st July 1916 aged 28. Son of William and Barbara of near Pound Tree, Ampney Crucis and a few houses from Frank Large who also fell. Husband of Clarice Doran of 13 Cheyne Place, Chelsea, London. Commemorated on a wooden memorial in the Church of the Holy Rood, Ampney Crucis and is buried at Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery, British Extension, France.

BARNFIELD Sydney George Private 33004, 2/4th Gloucestershire Regiment who died of wounds 21st April 1917 aged 24. Son of Thomas and Ada of 60 Ryecroft Street, Gloucester. Commemorated on the memorial of Alfred George and Sarah Ann Barnfield at Ampney Crucis Cemetery and is buried at Brandhoek New Military Cemetery, No3, Ieper, Belgium. His brother Albert Wilfrid Private 31806, 7th Gloucestershire Regiment also died on the 2nd April 1919 aged 25. He is buried at Batoum British Cemetery and is also commemorated on the Haidar Pasha Memorial, Turkey.
COOPER William Ernest, Gunner 2170, Royal Field Artillery, D Battery, 59th Brigade. Killed in action 23rd September 1917 aged 26. Son of James William and Martha Cooper of Hudnall, Little Gaddesden, Berkhamsted, Herts. Native of Southsea, Hants. Buried at Gwalia Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

LEYLAND Reginald Hamilton, [known as Rex], Lieutenant Colonel, Commander of the 2nd Rifle Brigade killed in action 24th September 1918 age 33. Son of Frederick Dawson Leyland and Sybil Lake nee Beadle of 79 Cromwell Road, South Kensington and husband of Helen Mary Leyland of Ampney Crucis. Buried at Roclincourt Military Cemetery France.
Lieutenant Colonel Rex Hamilton1 was killed in action by a shell around 5am on 24 September 1918, while he was visiting part of the line. He had only been the battalion's commander since June that year. That month every battalion of the 8th Division needed to take on a new commanding officer after all the previous ones had become casualties during the previous month's fighting on the Aisne and the subsequent retreat.
