Jayne Tovey would like your help with the Gloucestershire Stone Stile Project, working alongside Peter Wilson (the project leader from CPRE) to rediscover some of the lost stiles in Ampney Crucis. In May 2000, a footpath guide was issued for the benefit of those walking around our beautiful village. From this pamphlet, Jayne has discovered that four stiles have completely vanished, including two squeeze stiles, which are quite rare in this part of the country. She asks residents to look through old photographs and share any images that may include these stiles, whether wood or stone, as they could serve as the only remaining record of what once existed in our vicinity.
